Originally inspired by Mors Kochanski, this is first and foremost a scarf. The dead airspace trapped between the folds of the soft, diamond rip-stop nylon, works wonders to prevent cold air movement from stealing your precious body heat from unprotected neck areas.
- It is open at one end in a long bag shape, so it can be used for many other things such as gathering leaves or grasses for a debris bed or fire-starting, gathering nuts, berry’s, and seeds, or stuffing with clothes for use as a pillowcase.
- The neon orange interior allows it to be turned inside out to be used as a signal panel or to be worn during hunting season.
- With a piece of strong cord one can easily use it for an improvised sling pack.
- Use as a pre-filter before boiling water for consumption. (recommended that it is hand-washed with no soap before this use)
- Lay on the ground to catch shavings for fire prep.
- and the uses continue…
These are 17″ wide by 58″ long and weigh just under 7 ounces.
NOTE: A-TACS iX scarves are 56″ long and have a polyester exterior fabric

I was not even looking for a product like this and glad I found it. It is well made, the double-wall makes this very durable. The material is comfortable and would even make a suitable sleeping pad if stuffed with insulation in a worst-case scenario. Light, versatile, and well made.

Great piece of kit. Thanks!

Excellent piece of kit. The fabric feels nice against the skin and it is so much more than just a scarf.

This guy is an unsung treasure in backpacking gear. His items are well thought out and well made. This scarf is no exception. Soft and comfortable enough to forget its on until you realize your neck isn’t cold. Use it as a bag, hat, or turn it inside out as a last ditch signaling panel.

This is the most brilliant piece of hiking equipment.
Thank you

Great gear!! Thanks!!

This thing is fantastic! So versatile and well made. Man is it toasty warm too. Lighter and more compact than my large bandannas or shemaghs. It’s also warmer and in many ways more versatile. Tough Possum gear definitely made a great product! I would like to see a 42” X 42” square version so it’s like a big ground cloth but could still be stuffed for use as a mattress etc

Awesome scarf…I look forward to utilizing it on off the grid treks. Love the blaze orange interior. Nice to have in case of an emergency to utilize as a signaling device.

Good workmanship, fast shipping. I should have asked for a custom model. Too heavy at 6 oz, “orange as signal marker” is so rarely needed it’s not worth the extra weight, bulk, and cost. But the guys who like to role-play with wool blankets and leather haversacks won’t care. A single layered version with tieoff tabs on the corners and a thin bungie at the open end would be big improvements, and cost less.

I had never even considered buying a survival scarf but because of reviews I had seen decided to give it a try. Incredibly light and soft but tough material, the sewing is first-rate. The simple design lends itself too many applications, from hauling gear as an improvised pack to filling with material to create a large pillow. I really appreciate the two layer design, not only could the blaze orange come in handy but two layers is so much stronger than a single and the weight is almost non-existent. Some pieces of kit just plain work and I don’t see myself taking any trip into the woods without mine.

Excellent design and quality.
Lightning fast shipping on my order

Purchased mine a while back on Etsy. This thing is awesome and an absolute requirement for the haversack!
Tie a length of paracord at one open corner and the other end at the closed corner and you can wear it across your body as a foraging sack.
It’s only limit is your imagination!
Soaked in cool water it’s an evaporative cooling scarf. Dry it’s an insulating scarf… need more insulation, pack it with dry debris to increase dead air space.
Filled with acorns and rocks and sink it in a creek to leave a few days to soak the tannins out so the acorns can be processed into food.

Love it, but it does need to be just a bit bigger. Great product.

This is the second one I have purchased. Time will tell, but they have proven to be a quality product. The multicam is a great camo choice.
TJ –
Soft, slick, and comfortable. Good length for a scarf, and went with the blue for full visibility when necessary. I wanted a standout piece that was reversible to change looks on the fly when necessary, because who would confuse a guy with an orange scarf for a blue scarf when you don’t want to be followed?

Good quality, well made, I was surprised by the soft feel of the material it made it comfortable to wear.
it is also very functional.
