TheMark, from our friends at Delta2Alpha Design in Canada, is a high strength composite tool, designed “for those who GO and DO”, with an emphasis on “GO”. After using one of the originals for some time and deciding this was just too good not to share, we decided to bring a custom run of them to our store in this limited edition OD/Black/OD two-tone color scheme.
It functions primarily as a pack and bag hanging hook, whether that is hanging your pack from a tree, hammock suspension/ridgeline, or public restroom stall. We particularly like it to avoid setting our bag/coat/etc on the nasty floor of public restroom when traveling. On the way out, it functions as a door puller to limit contact with germ ridden bathroom pull handles, if that’s your thing.
Though thoroughly TSA-compliant in terms of a non-threatening appearance and a rock solid alibi, it is also designed with self defense in mind. Nobody likes a small, hard surface area striking their wind-pipe, eyes, nose, mouth, or temples. It is used in both a point (small hook) driven jab and hammer-fist method for the former four targets and using the larger thumb-side hook/ridge for the latter.
You can also use it as an impromptu phone/tablet stand for facetiming or on-the-go productivity.
We have paired this with a yard of what D2A Design calls “Hoodrat SnapWrap” in Coyote Brown. SnapWrap is designed to put a textured rubber handle on almost anything. Whether you are arming yourself with a cheap kitchen knife, purchased upon arrival to your destination, when flying carryon only or simply adding extra grip to your favorite tools, the choice is yours.
It is purpose made from exercise band rubber and measures 3/8″ wide by 1/16″ thick. It can be used in the construction of various primitive traps as well as Hawaiian Sling spears for spearfishing, if you are wilderness survival minded.
The Traveler’s Aid Kit comes packaged in a heavy duty, reusable 6mil plastic bag that can be repurposed to keep your passport and papers dry.
