This was just perfect for what I was looking for. My Military canteen, cup and stove, with original cover would not fit in the side pouch of my hunting day pack. the kit was to thick. Putting it in the side pouch without cover would eventually ware a tear in it. It had happened before. Now I can return kit to the outside of my pack and even add a spoon. No snaps like the original cover but that’s not an issue for me.

These are very handy little bits of often overlooked kit. I keep all my canteens in these sleeves. Typically, that means each sleeve holds a 32oz Nalgene Oasis canteen, a surplus USGI stainless canteen cup (the kind with butterfly handles), a modern production lid for the cup, and with a 1oz bottle of 2% tincture of slid down into the sleeve beside the container. I can lift just the canteen out to take a drink, or I can grab the whole kit if I’m going to cook something up. Easy peasy. And the sleeve keeps soot and pine tar off my bag and all my other gear.
